UZI STANDARD

The Uzi Standard is the full-sized, original variant of the world's most famous submachine gun family. Developed by Major Uziel Gal in the late 1940s and manufactured by Israel Military Industries (IMI), it revolutionized SMG design with its compact "telescoping" bolt, which allowed for a shorter overall length without sacrificing barrel performance.

Core Engineering Features
Telescoping Bolt (Wrap-Around Design): The bolt is designed to wrap around the breech end of the barrel. This allows the magazine to be housed within the pistol grip, shifting the weapon's center of gravity to the center of the hand and significantly reducing the overall length.

Simple Blowback Operation: The Uzi fires from an open-bolt position. When the trigger is pulled, the bolt slams forward, stripping a round from the magazine and firing it as it chambers. This simplicity makes the weapon exceptionally reliable in desert and dusty environments.

Grip Safety: A signature safety feature located on the back of the pistol grip. The weapon cannot be fired-nor can the bolt be cocked-unless the grip safety is firmly depressed by the operator's palm, preventing accidental discharges if dropped.

Folding Metal Stock: The standard model features a robust, two-stage folding steel stock that provides stability for shoulder-fired engagements but can be collapsed for storage or use in cramped quarters.

Operational Advantages
Reliability: The Uzi was built for the harsh conditions of the Middle East. Its generous internal tolerances allow it to function even when heavily contaminated with sand or mud.

Compact Handling: By placing the magazine in the grip ("hand-finds-hand" principle), reloads are intuitive and can be performed easily in total darkness or high-stress situations.

Low Cyclic Rate: At roughly 600 RPM, the Uzi is very controllable during fully automatic fire. The heavy bolt helps absorb recoil, making it easier for the operator to keep the sights on target.

Durability: Constructed primarily from heavy-gauge stamped steel, the Uzi is one of the most rugged submachine guns ever produced, capable of withstanding decades of service with minimal parts replacement.
