Ruger LC9 with Crimson Trace Laserguard
This configuration combines the Ruger LC9 (Lightweight Compact 9mm) with the Crimson Trace LG-412 Laserguard. Designed for defensive carry, this setup integrates a laser sighting system directly onto the trigger guard of the pistol. It addresses the difficulty of using small iron sights under stress or in low light, providing a rapid aiming solution without significantly increasing the bulk of the firearm.
Key Features
Instinctive Activation: The defining feature of the system is the pressure switch located on the front strap of the grip. The laser activates automatically when the user establishes a firm firing grip, requiring no separate button presses or fine motor skills.
Seamless Integration: The laser housing is contoured to match the frame and trigger guard of the LC9 perfectly. It clamps securely around the trigger guard, appearing as a natural extension of the gun rather than a bulky attachment.
Enhanced Sighting: The laser projects a bright dot (typically red) on the target. This allows for "threat-focused" shooting, where the user keeps their eyes on the danger rather than shifting focus back to the front sight post.
Adjustable Precision: The laser unit is fully adjustable for windage and elevation, allowing the user to zero the dot to the specific ammunition they are carrying.
Battery Efficiency: Powered by a single 1/3N Lithium battery (or two 357 Silver Oxide batteries), offering approximately four hours of continuous runtime.
Specifications (Combined System)
Platform: Ruger LC9 (Hammer-Fired)
Laser Model: Crimson Trace LG-412
Caliber: 9mm Luger
Capacity: 7+1 Rounds
Combined Weight: Approximately 17.5 oz
Laser Output: 5mW Peak, 633nm, Class 3R Red Laser
Activation: Front-located pressure pad
Holster Compatibility: Requires specific holsters molded for the "LC9 with Laserguard." It will not fit in standard LC9 holsters.
Common Applications
Low-Light Encounters: Essential for identifying where the muzzle is pointing in dark environments.
Unorthodox Shooting Positions: Allows for accurate fire from the hip, the ground, or around cover when bringing the gun to eye level is not possible.
Dry-Fire Practice: The laser provides immediate visual feedback on trigger control. If the dot streaks across the wall when the trigger breaks, it indicates poor technique.
Compatibility Note: The LG-412 Laserguard generally fits the original hammer-fired LC9, as well as the newer striker-fired LC9s and EC9s models, as they share the same frame geometry.
