The FNS-9 is the 9mm flagship of FN's first-generation striker-fired line. Released in 2011, it was designed to offer a modern, simplified alternative to the hammer-fired FNX series. It became a popular choice for law enforcement and civilian self-defense because of its natural "1911-style" grip angle and high standard capacity.
While it has been officially succeeded by the FN 509 series, many shooters still seek out the FNS-9 for its slim profile and excellent value on the used market.
Key Design Elements
17+1 Standard Capacity: The FNS-9 was one of the first major competitors to offer a flush-fit 17-round magazine, putting it on par with the Glock 17 but in a package that many find more ergonomic.
Fully Ambidextrous Controls: Unlike most pistols of its era, the FNS-9 features a dual-sided slide stop and a dual-sided magazine release as standard equipment.
Double-Action Striker: The trigger is a pre-set striker system with an articulated safety (hinged trigger). It generally has a pull weight of 5.5-7.7 lbs with a crisp break and a short, tactile reset.
