The CZ 75 Compact is the direct "shortened" descendant of the full-size CZ 75 B. It retains the all-steel construction of its larger sibling, making it one of the heaviest-but also one of the flattest-shooting-compact 9mm pistols on the market. It is often referred to as the "Steel Compact" to distinguish it from its aluminum-framed cousins, the P-01 and the PCR.
Key Design Elements
All-Steel Frame: Unlike most compact CZs that use aluminum alloy, the standard Compact uses a steel frame. This adds weight (about 5 oz more than the P-01), which significantly absorbs recoil and makes the gun feel incredibly stable for follow-up shots.
Manual Safety (Condition 1 Ready): It features a frame-mounted manual safety rather than a decocker. This allows for "Cocked and Locked" carry (Single-Action first shot), though it can be manually decocked for a Double-Action start.
Classic Profile: The slide and frame lack the modern accessory rail found on the P-01. This gives it a sleeker, more traditional aesthetic that is less likely to snag on clothing during a concealed draw.
Slide-in-Frame Rails: Like the full-size 75, the slide rides inside the frame rails. This contributes to a very low bore axis and the mechanical accuracy the platform is famous for.
Compatibility: It uses 14 or 15-round compact magazines but can also accept full-size 17 or 19-round CZ 75 magazines (which will protrude from the bottom).
