The Canik TP9SA (and its updated successor, the TP9SA Mod.2) is a full-sized, striker-fired 9mm pistol that initially put the Turkish manufacturer on the map for providing "Glock-killing" features at a budget-friendly price. It is best known for its exceptional single-action trigger and a unique-though sometimes controversial-top-mounted decocker.

Key Design Elements
Single-Action Only (SAO) Trigger: Unlike many striker-fired pistols that have a "mushy" take-up, the TP9SA features a true single-action trigger. It is widely considered one of the best factory triggers in its price bracket, offering a crisp 4.5 lb break and a very short, tactile reset.

The Decocker Button: Located on top of the slide, this button allows the user to safely de-activate the striker.

Note: On the original SA, this button rendered the trigger "dead," requiring the slide to be racked slightly to reset the striker.

Mod.2 Improvement: The Mod.2 version features a refined, low-profile decocker that is harder to press accidentally, addressing the main critique of the original design. Its primary purpose is to allow for safe disassembly without having to pull the trigger.

Match-Grade Barrel: The 4.46-inch cold hammer-forged barrel provides excellent accuracy and velocity, making it a favorite for range use and home defense.

Warren Tactical Sights: Most models ship with high-quality steel Warren Tactical sights, usually featuring a plain black U-notch rear and a white dot or fiber-optic front for fast, clean target acquisition.

Ergonomics & Capacity: The frame features interchangeable backstraps to adjust for hand size and is fed by high-quality 18-round Mec-Gar magazines.
