Description

Included:

The Colt Cobra (2" 38 Special) refers to two distinct eras of Colt's "Snake Gun" legacy: the classic lightweight alloy model and the modernized stainless steel version reintroduced in 2017. Both are six-shot, double-action/single-action (DA/SA) revolvers designed for deep concealment.

Modern Version (2017-Present)
The current production Cobra is a complete reimagining of the classic D-frame revolver, updated with modern manufacturing and safety features.

All-Steel Construction: Unlike the original, the modern Cobra is built from stainless steel with a matte finish. This added weight helps significantly with recoil management.

LL2™ Trigger System: It features Colt's Linear Leaf spring (version 2), providing a notably smooth and consistent double-action trigger pull.

Sights: Standard models come with a brass bead or fiber-optic front sight and a fixed trench-style rear sight. The front sight is user-replaceable.

+P Rated: The modern frame is reinforced and officially rated to handle high-pressure .38 Special +P ammunition.

Ergonomics: It usually ships with Hogue Overmolded rubber grips, providing a secure, hand-filling purchase.

Original Version (1950-1981)
Lightweight Alloy Frame: The original Cobra was a lightweight version of the Detective Special, utilizing an aluminum alloy frame. It was one of the first successful "Airweight" style revolvers.

Weight Difference: The original weighed only about 15 ounces, whereas the modern stainless steel version weighs approximately 25 ounces.

Ammunition Warning: It is generally recommended not to fire +P ammunition in vintage aluminum-framed Cobras, as they were not designed for those pressures.
