The Beretta PX4 Storm Full Size chambered in .45 Auto (.45 ACP) is a polymer-framed, hammer-fired pistol designed for maximum reliability and power. While it shares the same aesthetic as the 9mm and .40 S&W models, the .45 Auto version features a slightly reinforced frame and a different magazine configuration to accommodate the larger cartridge.
Key Design Elements
Rotating Barrel Locking System: This model utilizes Beretta's signature rotating barrel design. By dissipating recoil energy radially rather than vertically, it significantly reduces muzzle rise, making the typically "pushy" recoil of the .45 ACP feel much softer and more linear.
Special Duty (SD) Heritage: This version was famously developed to meet the requirements of the U.S. Joint Combat Pistol (JCP) program. As a result, it is overbuilt for extreme durability in harsh environments.
Ergonomics: Despite the larger caliber, the grip remains surprisingly manageable. It includes the standard three interchangeable backstraps to fit various hand sizes.
Action Types: Most commonly available as Type F (DA/SA with manual safety/decocker) or Type G (DA/SA with decocker only).
