The Beretta 90-Two is distinguished by its unique polymer dust cover (rail cover), a feature designed to maintain the pistol's ultra-smooth, snag-free profile when a tactical light or laser is not in use.
While most modern pistols leave the Picatinny rail exposed, Beretta included this snap-on component to ensure the "melted" aesthetic of the 90-Two wasn't interrupted by the sharp edges of the rail.
The Accessory Rail & Cover (Part #C5C553)
Integrated Rail: Underneath the cover, the frame features a standard MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail. This allows for the mounting of any standard lights (like the Streamlight TLR series or SureFire X300).
The Cover's Purpose: It protects the aluminum rail from being dinged or scratched and prevents the rail from snagging on a holster or clothing during a draw.
Aerodynamic Lines: With the cover installed, the dust cover area of the frame follows a smooth, continuous curve from the trigger guard to the muzzle, giving the 90-Two its "space-age" appearance.
How to Remove the Dust Cover
The cover is held in place by friction and small internal tabs. It can be notoriously difficult to remove if it hasn't been moved in years.
Safety First: Ensure the weapon is unloaded, the magazine is removed, and the chamber is empty.
The "Squeeze and Slide" Method: Grip the textured lines on the sides of the polymer cover firmly. Squeeze the sides together slightly to help disengage the internal locking tabs.
Forward Pressure: While squeezing, push or pull the cover straight forward (away from the trigger guard) toward the muzzle.
Note on Force: You may need to use a significant amount of force or "wiggle" it side-to-side. Avoid using metal tools like screwdrivers, as these can easily gouge the polymer cover or the aluminum frame underneath.

Because the 90-Two was only produced for a short window (2006-2012), these small polymer pieces have become hard to find.
